Residents and their families at Warburton House gathered to celebrate the retirement living community’s second birthday in June 2019.
The event was organised by residents and bpha, and played homage to the cultures of those living at Warburton House. Food, drink and music was chosen to reflect the residents and their lives and Lebanese, Greek and contemporary dance continued late into the night.
Resident Vesela Trbonja has lived at Warburton House since July 2017. She said: “When I moved from London to Cambridge, I thought I would miss a lot of the diversity of London, but I was wrong.
“Warburton House has so many lovely tenants from all over the world. I thoroughly enjoyed the celebration, with the culmination for me being the cake and pie that is traditional in my home town in [former] Yugoslavia.
“I was screaming with joy when I realised that Hussein, a member of bpha staff, had made it for me. I have thanked him thousands of times for reminding me of that lovely taste that I miss so much.”
Hussein Eid, bpha Senior Housing Coordinator, said: “The party was a great success, with residents really enjoying the event. I even had a dance!”
Warburton House Retirement Living Community is in Ninewells, Cambridge, overlooking the beautiful Gog Magog Hills. The development comprises two bedroom apartments for rent and shared ownership, along with communal facilities, including a lounge and hair salon.
