Help shape the Greater Cambridge Local Plan

Posted on 14 February 2020

Cambridgeshire residents have until 24 February to get involved in the first step in the development of the new Greater Cambridge Local Plan, an important document that will affect how people live, work and play in Greater Cambridge over the next 20 years and beyond.

The plan, being drawn up by Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council, will address key issues, including jobs, the environment, community facilities and the number of new homes needed in the area.

The UK Government has already set a target of 41,000 new homes for Greater Cambridge between 2017 and 2040, but the councils say up to 66,700 could be needed, if jobs continue to grow at the current rate. There are already about 36,400 homes in the pipeline but the new plan will have to identify potential sites for the rest.

Residents can comment and share their ideas through the consultation portal or by emailing (or posting) a response form that can be downloaded from the Greater Cambridge Local Plan website.
