Posted on 14 June 2021

Sanctuary Housing has started work on a £7.3 million housing scheme to bring quality affordable new homes to Cambridgeshire.

The development will provide 40 new homes, which will all be available for social rent, in the Cambridge village of Bar Hill.

Part funded by Homes England, the properties are being built by Wellington Construction and are due to be completed in phases between summer 2022 and spring 2023.

The development overlooks a golf course and will comprise a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom flats as well as three and four-bedroom houses.

Sarah Brind, Sanctuary’s Head of Development – South, said: “We’re excited to start work on this new development, which will bring much-needed, quality and affordable housing to people in Cambridgeshire.”

Paul Pitcher, Managing Director of Wellington, added: “We are delighted to be working with Sanctuary on this important project to create new affordable homes in Bar Hill.

“We take great pride in building top quality affordable homes in this region.  Not only does this provide much-needed homes for local people, but it also creates employment for local people as well.”
