Kate Newbolt, CKH Service Manager - Customer, Community and Stakeholder Engagement said: “These boxing sessions will not only help people to get in shape in a safe environment, but they will also help with mental health and help them build support networks.
“Sessions are available to total beginners and are completely non-judgemental – no-one is expecting people to be super-fit and Lycra-clad! We just want people to come along and join us, to meet new people and have fun.”
Funded by City College Peterborough’s Community Learning Trust, a 13 week men-only course started at the South Bretton Family and Community Centre on 24 January and an all-adult session will run at the Charteris Centre in Dogsthorpe from 4 February, for twelve weeks. Sessions will include mental health support.
These sessions complement the existing classes for young people up to 13 years old, held at the WestRaven Community Café in Westwood.
